Cliches that are supposed to console
Every once in awhile I like to complain (make that every day) and sometimes well-intentioned friends bring out the big guns to turn my frown upside down–I’m talking about the everything-will-work-out-just-fine subgenre of cliches.
I’m allergic to the brand of optimism inherent in these trite phrasings and tend to react with an eye roll so strong that it threatens to snap my optic nerve behind my eyeball.
But cliches are far more adorable when the animals say them. Check out what they do with a particularly well-worn one.
Why would we suggest to either humans or fish to explore habitat that isn’t hospitable to living for either creature as a place to find a mate? So many questions, so few answers.
