Where All Anti-Girlfriends End Up…
This building is a few blocks away from me in Brooklyn. I’ve passed it for years but today while walking my dog, I decided to take a picture of it because I someday hope to live there.
It was once a residence for old ladies in Clinton Hill; now it’s condos. (Of course.) A little googling reveals the history of the building, which dates back to 1851, when it was incorporated. Forgotten New York notes that women over the age of 60 who could prove their “propriety” and “respectability” were eligible to move in.
It was dedicated to indigent females; but now a condo runs at least 3/4 of a million dollars. My, how times have changed.
